NABA

The day started off in the lobby waiting for Mudita (our “guardian angel” from NABA) with a fun game of knowing our Italian designers. After the game, Mudita came and brought us to the school we will be learning at; NABA, the Nouva Accademia di Belle Arti Milano, which was only about a 10 minute walk.  The campus has a very modern atmosphere and the students come from over 50 countries from all over the world.  Not only is the school filled with numerous authentic cultures but the school actually is built as a campus setting where all the buildings are located in one area, something that is very rare in Italy.
We had an amazing presentation from Evelina, the director of summer programs who was more than helpful with our group. I could tell that all the faculty and students that are working with us are as excited as we are to work with them.  We had a tour of the University and justifiably so, every building is named by a color. We saw the students working on their final projects in the study rooms and saw the fashion design room as well. After the tour we had a great lunch with the group, Evelina and Mudita. I felt as if I went to NABA for years.
The school reminds me of some American schools such as Pratt and RISD.  I am so honored to work with the school and be a part of their amazing summer program.  After NABA we got our Metrocards and had the chance to go around the city with some of my other classmates and had a quick glance at Duomo and La  Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.  Milano is slowly warming up to me and I can soon call it home.
